In February 2024 Bro Jim Arrant became the Transitional Pastor at First Cal. Transitional Pastors have been trained for the purpose of preparing the church for the ministry of the new pastor. They are experienced pastors who are capable in the pulpit and have effective relationship skills. They have the leadership skills to lead the church staff and lay leaders in the direction they should go in order to be ready for the arrival of the new pastor.
Bro Jim was brought up in a Christian home and attended a Southern Baptist Church all his life, it was not until June of 1970 that he truly surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and asked Him to save him. He was in the U.S. Air Force at the time, stationed outside of Tokyo, Japan. Shortly afterwards he felt the Lord’s calling to full time ministry. After being discharged from the Air Force, he enrolled in a college close to his last air base. He was a pastor for four years in Arkansas while attending college, and then he went to Memphis, TN, to attend seminary. He has been a pastor of six Southern Baptist churches and has always been supportive of Southern Baptist ministries and missions.
Bro Jim has been married to Mrs. Pat for 55 years and they have two sons and one daughter. They have been blessed with thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
